In a welcome move, the Malta Disability Forum, in collaboration with the Sports Malta Foundation, has launched a free hydrotherapy programme. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities by providing access to therapeutic warm water sessions.
Hydrotherapy, a gentle form of exercise performed in water, offers numerous benefits. It helps to improve muscle strength, joint flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. the buoyancy of water reduces the impact on joints, making it an ideal form of exercise for those with mobility issues or chronic pain.
How to Dive In
If you’re a disability card holder eager to dip your toes into this programme, here’s what you need to know:
- Sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at the Ta’ Qali National Sports Complex’s indoor pool.
- Each session lasts for 45 minutes, with a maximum of 10 participants per session to ensure personalised attention.
- No prior booking is required, but participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early for registration.
- Transportation to and from the venue can be arranged upon request.
