Mqabba Sets New Fireworks Record with 90m Display
Imagine the night sky over Malta’s rural village of Mqabba, ablaze with a cascade of colours, as fireworks explode in a symphony of light and sound. This wasn’t just any fireworks display; it was a record-breaking spectacle that has left the small community buzzing with pride and excitement.
Breaking Records in the Heart of Malta
On the evening of August 15, during the feast of the Assumption, Mqabba’s fireworks enthusiasts set a new record with a display that reached an astonishing height of 90 metres. The previous record stood at 80 metres, also achieved by Mqabba’s team. This year, they outdid themselves, captivating the audience and setting a new benchmark for pyrotechnic displays in Malta.
Local Pride and Passion
Mqabba, a village nestled in the heart of Malta’s southern region, is no stranger to fireworks. The art of pyrotechnics is deeply ingrained in the local culture, with families passing down their skills from generation to generation. The record-breaking display was the result of months of preparation by a dedicated team of locals, led by fireworks expert Joe Camilleri.
“We’ve been working on this for a long time,” said Camilleri, “It’s not just about breaking records, it’s about bringing our community together and creating a spectacle that everyone can enjoy.”
Safety First, Then Records
While the team was focused on breaking records, safety was their top priority. The display was meticulously planned and executed, with strict safety measures in place. The team worked closely with the Civil Protection Department and the local council to ensure that all regulations were followed, and that the event could be enjoyed safely by the thousands of spectators who lined the streets of Mqabba.
“We want people to enjoy the show, but safety is always our main concern,” said Camilleri. “We want everyone to go home safe and happy.”
As the smoke cleared and the last embers fell to the ground, Mqabba’s residents and visitors alike were left in awe of the incredible display. The record-breaking feat has not only put Mqabba on the map as a must-see destination for fireworks enthusiasts, but it has also served as a testament to the power of community and passion.
