Rider in Critical Condition After St. Julian’s Accident

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a motorcycle accident in St. Julian’s yesterday, where a man in his 30s was found lying injured on the side of Triq San Ġorġ Preca. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was immediately transported to Mater Dei Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Witnesses Recall Scene of Accident

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the motorcycle, a black Yamaha YZF-R6, skidding off the road and crashing into a nearby wall. “It all happened so fast,” said Maria, a local resident who witnessed the incident. “One moment he was speeding down the street, and the next, he was on the ground.”

Road Safety Concerns Raised

This latest accident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Malta, particularly among motorcyclists. According to the Malta Police, there have been over 200 motorcycle-related accidents in the past year alone, with many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities.

Malta’s Road Safety Council has been advocating for stricter enforcement of speed limits and the mandatory use of protective gear, including helmets. “We need to do more to ensure the safety of our motorcyclists,” said a spokesperson for the council. “This includes better education, stricter enforcement, and improved road infrastructure.”

In the meantime, the family of the injured motorcyclist has asked for privacy as they await further updates on his condition. Hot Malta will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
