Valletta’s Plates Take Centre Stage This Weekend

As the sun sets on a bustling day in the capital, Valletta’s streets are about to get even more vibrant. The annual Valletta Local Food Festival is back, transforming the city’s historic streets into a culinary wonderland this Friday and Saturday. So, what’s cooking in our little city-state?

From Pastizzi to Seafood: A Gastronomic Journey

This year’s festival promises a mouth-watering journey through Malta’s rich culinary heritage. From the humble yet delicious pastizzi to the freshest seafood caught in our Mediterranean waters, local food stalls will be serving up a feast for the senses. Expect to find traditional Maltese favourites like ftira, ħobż biż-Żejt, and rabbit stew, alongside innovative twists on local classics.

But it’s not just about the food. The Valletta Local Food Festival is also a celebration of our local producers, artisans, and chefs. It’s a chance to meet the people behind your favourite dishes, learn about their techniques, and even pick up some tips for your own kitchen. Keep an eye out for cooking demonstrations and workshops throughout the weekend.

Where and When?

The festival will take over several streets in Valletta, with the main hub located in St. George’s Square. The fun kicks off at 5 PM on Friday and continues until midnight, giving you plenty of time to explore, taste, and enjoy. Saturday sees the festival open from 10 AM until midnight, perfect for a leisurely morning stroll before the feasting begins.

And the best part? Entry is free! So, whether you’re a local foodie or a visitor eager to try the best of Malta, there’s no excuse to miss this gastronomic extravaganza. See you there!
