Malta’s Green Revolution: New EV Charging Stations and Eco-Tours Unveiled
Imagine this: You’re cruising along the bustling Triq San Ġwann, the sun is shining, and you’re not worried about running out of juice. That’s the future Malta’s government and local businesses are betting on, as they announced a wave of new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and eco-tours today.
Revolutionising Malta’s EV Infrastructure
In a press conference held at the iconic Castille Square, Transport Minister, Michael Falzon, announced the rollout of 50 new public EV charging stations across Malta and Gozo. The locations, set to be revealed in the coming weeks, will include popular spots like Paceville, Sliema, and Victoria, making it easier than ever to go electric on our islands.
“Today marks a significant step towards our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral island by 2050,” Falzon said. “We’re not just adding charging points; we’re creating a network that will transform how we travel.”
Eco-Tours: Exploring Malta’s Beauty Sustainably
But the announcements didn’t stop at charging stations. Local tour operators also revealed plans to launch a series of eco-friendly tours, utilising electric vehicles and focusing on Malta’s rich history and natural beauty. The first of these tours, ‘The Three Cities Electric Adventure,’ will take visitors through the historic cities of Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua in style and sustainability.
“We want to show the world that you can explore Malta without leaving a heavy footprint,” said tour operator, Joseph Xuereb. “Our electric vehicles are not just a way to get around; they’re a statement about the future we want for our islands.”
The new charging stations and eco-tours are set to launch in the coming months, with exact dates and locations to be announced soon. So, Malta, are you ready to plug in, power up, and explore our beautiful islands in a whole new way?
