Road Safety in Malta: A Persistent Concern

This incident is a stark reminder of the persistent road safety concerns in Malta. According to the Malta Police, there were 1,438 road accidents in 2020, resulting in 17 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Experts have long called for a multi-faceted approach to road safety, including stricter enforcement of traffic laws, better road infrastructure, and enhanced driver education.

“We need to make our roads safer for everyone, especially our children,” said Dr. Joseph Cuschieri, a local road safety advocate. “This means investing in infrastructure, educating drivers, and enforcing the rules of the road.”
