Man Charged After Msida Carwash Brawl

Carwash Clash: Man Charged After Brawl in Msida

In the heart of Msida, where the hum of car engines usually drowns out the sound of seagulls, an unusual commotion broke out last week. The scene? A bustling carwash on Triq tal-Linja. The cause? A heated argument that escalated into a full-blown brawl, leaving one man nursing injuries and another facing assault charges.

From Fender Bender to Fist Fight

The incident, which occurred on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, started as a minor fender bender. A silver Ford Fiesta clipped the back of a red Toyota Yaris as it pulled out of the carwash. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, and before long, the two men found themselves in a tussle on the tarmac.

Witnesses reported that the fight, which lasted several minutes, involved punches being thrown and cars being used as shields. “It was like something out of a movie,” said one onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous. “I’ve never seen anything like it in Msida before.”

Arrest Made, Charges Laid

Police were quickly on the scene, separating the combatants and taking statements from witnesses. The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 35-year-old man from Birkirkara, was arrested and later charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. He was released on bail pending his court appearance next month.

The victim, a 42-year-old man from Msida, was treated at Mater Dei Hospital for minor injuries and released the same day. He declined to comment when approached by Hot Malta reporters.

Community Reacts: “Not Our Msida”

News of the brawl has sparked outrage among Msida residents. “This is not the Msida we know and love,” said Joe Borg, a long-time resident and owner of the popular Msida café, Borg’s Bakery. “We’re a close-knit community, and incidents like this are rare. We hope the courts deal with this appropriately.”

Msida Mayor, Dr. Gino Lee, echoed Borg’s sentiments. “Msida is a peaceful, multicultural community. We won’t tolerate this kind of behaviour. We’re working closely with the police to ensure incidents like this are kept to a minimum.”
