Malta Boy, 4, Critical After Pool Accident

In the quiet residential area of Birkirkara, just off Triq San Pawl, a family’s world was shattered yesterday afternoon. A four-year-old boy, let’s call him Lucas for now, slipped away from his parents’ watchful eyes and tumbled into their backyard swimming pool. The call to Mater Dei Hospital was urgent, the situation critical.

Neighbors, many of whom know the family well, are struggling to come to terms with the accident. “They’re such a lovely family,” said Maria, a long-time resident. “You always see them together, the kids playing in the street. It’s just so tragic.” The family, who have asked for privacy, are by their son’s side, praying for a miracle.

Malta Police and Civil Protection Department are investigating the incident.
